Welcome to the launch of Exhibition as Method by Metode on Thursday, February 12, at 18:00 - 19:30 at ROM for kunst og arkitektur - and online (see Zoom link below)
The starting point for the Open Call for experimental essays for Metode vol. 4, Exhibition as Method, was an interest in the exhibition not only as a format for presentation, but as a critical and generative research method. The call invited artists, curators, architects, and scholars to explore how exhibitions can function as thinking tools, discursive spaces, and sites of knowledge production. How can exhibitions operate as systems of signs, social infrastructures, and environments for embodied experience? Which methodologies, histories, and collaborative practices shape the exhibition as a form of inquiry, and how might it be reimagined as a space for experimentation, co-creation, and learning?
Exhibitions as Method consist of ten essays written by Adeline Lépine, Alice Haddad, Farida Youssef, Gunhild Moe and Marie Bønløkke Missuno, Hala Alnaji, Jason Falkenberg, Maike Statz, Nikita Mathias, Reyhaneh Mirjahani, Zorana Đorđević.
Edited by Karoline Kjesrud, Björn Nilsson, and Ingrid Halland.
Exhibition as Method is a collaboration between Metode, The Museum of Cultural History (in Oslo), and The University Museum of Bergen.
